Scholarships that can be applied for before enrollment.

Scholarships that international students can apply for before enrollment are as follows.

International student on MEXT scholarship (Government-sponsored international student)

“Government-sponsored international student” refers to international students invited by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) using government funds. Applications for MEXT sponsorship before arriving in Japan can be submitted in one of two ways:

  1. Through an our partner university (Ochanomizu University recommendation)
  2. Through a Japanese embassy or consulate (Embassy recommendation)

For details on how to apply, consult with your university office in charge or a localJapanese embassy or consulate. MEXT sponsorships are granted to undergraduate students, graduate students, research students, and Japanese studies students (NIKKENSEI).

Admission fee and/or tuition exemption

Admission fee and/or tuition exemption/reduction/deferral scheme

For regular students (undergraduate/graduate students) who have financial difficulty paying their admission fee and/or tuition due to exceptional circumstances, Ochanomizu University has a scheme for waiving all or half of admission fee and/or tuition (for graduate students only), or postponing the collection of admission fee and/or tuition, through screening of applicant students who are recognized as producing excellent academic results. To apply for the system, submit an application during the designated period to the Student and Career Support Division. For details, refer to the link below.
