The above monthly awards are the 2021 academic year data and subject to change.
To receive a private scholarship through the university, you are required to register as a candidate to be considered for recommendation.
Registration is accepted twice a year, first in mid-April and second in mid-October. Information regarding registration is provided by e-mail.
Registration is accepted in either of the following ways.
Note that submissions made outside the application period will not be accepted.
After submissions are received, the University prepares a ranking of candidates and makes recommendation for scholarship starting with the highest ranking student. The table of candidates is valid until April the following year. That is, applicants are required to re-register every year.
The criteria for recommendation are as follows.
1-Recommendation criteria
In light of the above criteria 1 to 6, the order of recommendations is determined.
2-Selection method
For private scholarships and so on, nominators select top candidates from applicants who meet the applicant eligibility specified by each organization.
3-Number of recommendations
As a rule, a candidate is recommended for one private scholarship but not for multiple scholarships.
For candidate rejected for the first recommendation, they still can be recommended one more time (up to two recommendation attempts).
Ochanomizu University receives about ten private scholarships requiring direct application each year (the actual number varies every year). All students are welcome to apply directly on their own, provided that they meet the applicant eligibility specified by each organization. Upon receiving a notice on scholarship, the University provides the information by e-mail to students on the list of registered candidates.
Ochanomizu University offers its own scholarships specifically for international students. (These are lump-sum payments awarded to outstanding students. Note that these awards differ from monthly scholarships for current students.)
For regular students (undergraduate/graduate students) who have financial difficulty paying their admission fee and/or tuition due to exceptional circumstances, Ochanomizu University has a scheme for waiving all or half of admission fee and/or tuition (for graduate students only), or postponing the collection of admission fee and/or tuition, through screening of applicant students who are recognized as producing excellent academic results. To apply for the system, submit an application during the designated period to the Student and Career Support Division. For details, refer to the link below.
