Ochanomizu University Concludes Agreement to Collaborate and Cooperate with National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry

07.08.2017 Update

On July 31, Ochanomizu University concluded a collaboration and cooperation agreement with the National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry (NCNP). The two plan to focus on areas related to their research and human resource training and implement the results based on their principle of reciprocity. Their overall goals are to contribute to mental health research in Japan and educate the next generation of talented female graduates.

The signing ceremony took place in the second-floor conference room of Ochanomizu University’s Main Building. University President Kimiko Murofushi and NCNP President Hidehiro Mizusawa provided a briefing about the agreement’s significance and their expectations. Along with practical training and research meant to train genetic counselors—which have been conducted since the university established its Division of Life Sciences’ genetic counseling courses at the graduate school in April 2004—the two parties plan to promote cooperation in a wide range of areas. This includes collaboration between the university’s Institute for Education and Human Development and the NCNP’s Department of Child and Adolescent Mental Health on longitudinal research of children with developmental disorders as well as other research projects.
