Future Developments

The L-RAD platform will be used to unearth research ideas the university possesses so that companies can establish ties to the relevant researchers at an earlier stage than before, commence joint research and boost their competitiveness.

About L-RAD

Decisions on Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research (kakenhi) and other various kinds of public competitive research funding implemented by government agencies are mainly based on screening by experts at universities and other research institutions. The main criterion for grants is the degree of academic contributions.

When reevaluated from the perspective of industrial applications, however, some ideas that were not adopted for research would prove useful for companies. L-RAD is the world’s first open innovation platform that makes it possible to search for and view these types of ideas which have not been tested. It is jointly run by Leave a Nest; Ikeda Scientific Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Hideo Takahashi); and G-Search Limited (headquarters:  Minato-ku, Tokyo; president: Hirofumi Watase). Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Corporation, Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., JTEKT Corporation, Japan Tobacco Inc., Toyobo Co., Ltd., and Chiome Bioscience, Inc. are registered as L-RAD platform users.
