"Sugar Analogues as Enzyme Inhibitors, Signalling Molecules and Potential Drugs"

　お茶の水女子大学、「女性リーダーを創出する国際拠点の形成」事業では、"国際化加速プログラム"の一環として、ドイツブッパタール大学のProf. Dr. Hans-Josef Altenbachをお招きし、"Sugar Analogues as Enzyme Inhibitors, Signalling Molecules and Potential Drugs"と題した公開セミナーを開催し、先生の最新の研究を紹介いただきます。（申し込み不要、入場無料）。

講師： Prof. Dr. Hans-Josef Altenbach（ブッパタール大学（ドイツ）教授）
要旨： Carba- and azasugars, sugar analogues, where the ring oxygen of a furanose or a pyranose is replaced by a CH2-group or a N-atom, are widespread natural products and have attracted a lot of interest due to their broad spectrum of biological activities, including antibiotic, antiviral and cancerostatic properties. The biological activity is mainly due to their ability to mimic specific sugars and being effective glycosidase inhibitors of the corresponding carbohydrates. 　In continuation of the search for flexible synthetic routes to aza- and carbasugar systems very efficient approaches will be described for both classes of compounds using easily accessible chiral building blocks. The great potential of approaches via enantiomerically pure central building blocks will be demonstrated in short syntheses of five-and six-membered imino-sugars with different configuration and substitution pattern and in six membered carbasugars. New examples of the successful application of this strategy will be described.
